Organizational Problems

I don't have any bookshelves right now. It's led to this:

Some unopened boxes of books:

Gabriel's corner:

And, the most disturbing of all, my desk:

The Disaster of my Desk

I have some Must-Get-This-Shit-Done-By-Christmas organizational goals. I'll let you know how they turn out.

  2. Did you read Water for Elephants? I did and I really didn't like it at all.

  3. Becs: It's on my to-read list, I'll let you know what I think of it when I get there. Or better yet! Find me on Goodreads (via my contact page)!

  6. yeah we are in the same place. Not a shelf in the house. We have an entire spare room filled with stacked boxes of books and knick knacks it is the suck! good luck with your organizing.

We have come close to ripping our back garage apart for scrap wood and making shelves.

  7. Oh my gosh dear, moving boxes? Go to Ikea and get some stuff, have a friend help you put it together.

  8. Your desk looks like a Barnes & Noble and a Staples threw up on it.

  9. Your desk scares me a little bit.

  10. If you had blogged this about 6 months ago, I probably would have been motivated enough to actually BUY you a bookcase. My recommendation? Watch the craigslist "free" section. Especially around times the college kids will move. That's how I acquired most of my stuff. Though I also bought a bookcase for $10.

  11. And probably more importantly, why do you have such a weird number of dolls surrounding your desk?

  12. I really liked the book Water for Elephants, I hope you enjoy it :)

I don't think it's the dolls on top that are really disturbing, but the ones shoved in the cubby space below with just their limbs showing...

  13. Been there. Done that. At least Gabriel's stuff is fairly accessible.
I guess you should be asking Santa for bookshelves this year.

  14. I agree with Kathy on all points (Water for Elephants and doll limbs.)

  15. Well I feel the need to defend myself now. Those are all the dolls and whatnot from my childhood. I don't have any stuff at my parents' house anymore, and they had to go somewhere.

  16. OMG....I think you just gave me a mini-stroke. Can I please come over and organize...can I? PLEASE.

    That desk is too funny.

Water for Elephants was pretty good.

  17. @Everyone who looked at these photos and had an aneurysm: You're more than welcome to come over and organize my crap, donate shelves, whatever you feel inspired to do. And hey, while you're at it, can I borrow your carpet cleaner? Because I can't even bring myself to post photos of...that problem.

  18. Ok. Seeing as how my dad and brother work at a carpet store, I find it funny that I only just NOW thought to offer them up. You should message adam or call my dad. Chances are they have a shopvac and carpet cleaning solutions galore. And if you had to go over there- they're right behind costco. And everyone loves costco.

  19. I have several bookshelves, and a filing cabinet. And my desk looks EXACTLY like yours, except that it's bigger, so there's more of the crap everywhere thing going on.

  20. Wow, I feel better about my desk at work. Now I don't have to worry about it for at least another month. You didn't know you were an enabler, did you?
