You can't stop time.
You can't stop them from growing up.
Before you know it, kindergarten!
Kindergarten with a kid who's so excited he jumps awake.
Makes a special sign to keep in his backpack.
Kindergarten with a kid who expressly forbids you to bring your camera to the school, who hustles you out the door and wiggles away from your goodbye kiss.
But, you can still make a fancy lunch.
How long do I have before fancy lunches are banned too? Another year?
Kindergarten....time really does fly.

Newsworthy
So I broke up with The Boyfriend.
The short version is that he doesn't believe in Christmas, and I love Christmas. If he and I were ever to share a home, he wouldn't allow Christmas in it.
The slightly longer version is that he doesn't seem to have given any serious weight to my thoughts, feelings, opinions, or lifestyle, even when clearly asserted early on in the relationship. I was getting the pat on the head and brush it aside treatment and I didn't quite realize it until things came to a head over this seemingly ridiculous Christmas business.
My cultural and family values are important to me, and ours are incompatible.
Breakups are sad, but overall I feel good about everything. This was the right choice.
I don't like talking relationships on The Blog, but since I brought him into the narrative, it's only fair to take him out of it again.
Upward and onward!

It's World Breastfeeding Week you say?
I have exactly one thing to say about that, and I find it's best communicated via pictures, as it's said they speak a thousand words:
